UK Society History
The Society and its activities are housed at 149 Eastcote Lane in Harrow. This property has been acquired with help of the members and followers of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother in April 2000. Since then all activities have been taking place in this Centre.
Before acquiring this property, Society’s activities were taking place from early 1980s in Beaumont Street, London W1 near Baker Street and Fairfax Mansions Finchley Road London NW 3 area.
United Kingdom Chapter started with Sri Gopal Bhattacharjee, International Secretary’s visit to UK and meeting late Soumendu Kumar Datta, founder Chairman. With the Divine help of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother Sri Datta met a few other likeminded people who are interested in the Sri Aurobindo Philosophy.
They are Sri Indra Sethia, Sri Jayendra Khandke , Sri Mrinal Choudhury, Sri Firoz Karmaly, Late Mohindra Patel, Late Nanu Joshi, Dr Karuna Bose, Sri Anil Paul Choudhury and others
